Driver D-Day has arrived!
The R &
A’s restrictions on driver technology are now in
force and any player taking part in a club
competition using a ‘hot face’ driver that exceeds
the limits will technically be cheating just as much
as they would by disregarding any other rule of
golf.
This new
rule at club level will be largely self-policing so
it’s up to individual players to ensure that they
don’t enter our competitions using an illegal club.
We ask that you check that
your driver is not on the non-conforming driver list
which can be accessed from the R & A’s website -

R&A Conforming Driver Heads
The list, arranged in
alphabetical order by manufacturer, includes the
details of all of the drivers known to the R&A which
have, at some time, been in the marketplace and
which do not conform to the Appendix II, 4c of the
2008 edition of the Rules of Golf for
'spring-effect'. This action will be sufficient at
club level.
There is really no
need to consult the other list, that of Conforming
Driver Heads. This list cannot possibly include
those manufacturers who have not submitted their
clubs for testing or include those drivers
manufactured before this hullabaloo started – simply
verify that your driver is not mentioned on the
non-conforming list
and you are covered as far as Glen Gorse Golf Club
is concerned.
