Tips to avoid slow play on the Tee
If the hole in front of you is free and you are clearly
slower than the group behind - let them through.
Be
aware of the speed of the group behind. If they’re
playing straighter and faster than you, let them through
with a smile.
Be
ready to play at all times and hit when it’s safe, when
the group ahead is clear.
Encourage shorter hitters to hit first without always
being restricted by the ‘honour’ system.
The entire group should watch each player hit their tee
shot so that an errant shot is easily found.
Watch other shots, as well as your own, to help pinpoint
the position of their ball and try to 'mark' the
finishing position by using a nearby tree or landmark.
Always play a provisional ball (stating the fact and its
identification) if there’s a danger the first may be
hard to find.
Players should find an appropriate time to record the
scores for the previous hole played without delaying
their tee shots on the next hole.
