Wellingborough Seniors Invitation Day - Glen Gorse
Team placed second. Alan Strachan & Neville Williams
best 4BBB score.
This has been a
year of ‘innovation’, never something easy to
implement but with Malcolm’s help much has been
achieved and the enthusiastic response by fellow
Seniors has made our efforts well worth while.
1. The Seniors
website section was introduced on the GGGC site.
2. The ‘WELCOME’
boards were a real hit, these were Malcolm’s
idea and have drawn very positive comments from
all visiting teams. 3. Match Day format with the
Clubhouse opening at 08.30 with complimentary
coffee available have been well received.
4. Open Day and
Internal Competition Day formats have been
totally changed. Malcolm and John Pardoe were
instrumental in the decision to move with
registration into the Clubhouse
5. Summer
Knockout – this ‘new’ competition was well
supported. 6. AGM – this has been separated from
the Club’s Bell Trophy and linked with an AM/AM
shotgun start competition, this has been an
evident success.
7. Autumn Golf
Break – 16 of us went to Beadlow Manor Golf
Complex in Bedfordshire between 9th and 12th
October. A great time was had by us all, let’s
hope we can repeat it next year.
Before concluding
I would like to thank: Francis Kempster (Course
Manager) and his staff for the excellent
presentation of the course during a very difficult
year, all visiting teams thought the course was
excellent. Let us be honest the quality of the
course is ‘all important’. Dick and Elaine Harris
for the excellent meals served throughout the year,
once again all comments from visitors and Glen
members were very favourable. Jenny James and Carol
in the Office for helping with fixtures and for
helping out with administrative matters throughout
the year.
Finally, best
wishes to next year’s Seniors Captain.
It has been a
privilege to serve as Captain and I wish the new
Captain every success and am confident that he will
take the Section forward effectively and am
confident that you will give him the same
wholehearted support that you gave me.
Many thanks for a
wonderful year.
